03.07.2020 Azulene adds new twist to DAEs
During his secondment within the ITN iSwitch, Ian - back then a graduate student with Akimitsu Narita and Klaus Müllen at the MPI for Polymer Research in Mainz - was able to blend his azulene magic with photoswitches. He integrated an azulene moiety into the framework of a diarylethene in such a way that the switch displays unusual pH-gated negative photochromism. His interesting findings will be featured in a upcoming issue of Angewandte Chemie. Congratulations Ian!
