Metal Organic Frameworks for PFAS Degradation
Perfluoro- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of diverse anthropogenic chemicals considered as emerging persistent pollutants. The high electronegativity of the fluorine atom and strength of the C–F bond define their strong resistance to biological and conventional oxidation treatments. One of the promising techniques for their degradation are photochemical processes due to their simplicity, high degree of efficiency, and mild operating conditions. With support of the SFB 1349 Nikita’s research is focused on the development of photosensitive framework materials for PFASs uptake, release, and degradation.
